We've planned a Norway reunion trip to the cold weather in Tasmania in winter in an effort to relive our Norway experience. Number one goal will of course be to see the Southern Lights (known by the locals as the Aurora Australis). Unfortunately, Maureen is unable to join us due to Alans health battles. No doubt we will do our best to have a terrible time and will be thinking of her constantly as we drive around aimlessly getting lost in the rain and fog, and as we drown our sorrows with bad beer and cheap wine?? We promise to break the bank at the casino on the last night because we will have Maureen looking over our shoulders, urging us on to double our money with each throw of the dice!!
The happy travellers will be Pam, Noelene, Denise and yours truly and we plan to try and visit places none of us have seen before or have seen before and want to go back. With this in mind we have devised the following itinerary -
Leave Brisbane 14th June 2026 on 9.40am flight VA1002 and arrive in Hobart at 12.30pm
Pick up the hire car at the airport (Kia Carnival or similar)
14th to 17th - Stay 3 nights in Hobart at St Ives Apartments 67 St Georges Terrace, Battery Point
17th to 19th - Stay 2 nights in Huonville at River Front Estate, 12 Short St., Huonville
19th to 20th - Stay 1 night in Maydena at Giants Table and Cottages, 13 Junee Road, Huonville
20th to 23rd - Stay 3 nights in Launceston at Leisure Inn Penny Royal Hotel & Apartments, 147 Paterson St., Launceston
23rd to 24th - Stay 1 night in Bicheno at Jetty's End Bicheno, 62 Foster St, Bicheno
24th to 25th - Stay 1 night in Hobart at Wrest Point Casino, 410 Sandy Bay Road, Hobert
Leave Hobart 25th June on 1.10pm flight VA1003 and arrive Brisbane 3.50pm
This is our planned route, I'm sure there'll be deviations?? I'll try to keep the blog up to date but may get lead astray by my travelling companions at beer time; which is the most productive blogging time of day.
Looking forward to seeing all your travel info and photos!
