Wine tour

Booked a wine tour for the day, it leaves the motel at 11am so I took the chance to fuel the car, take it through the car wash and buy some bread for tomorrows breakfast.

The bus arrived at 11 and we got on with 6 other intrepid travellers with our first stop at Tamar Ridge Estate Winery.  Six wines were tasted, it appears some of the girls will not be tasting all the wines so it will be up to me to hide the evidence of them snubbing the wine makers by consuming all the left-overs...It went very well!!

Tamar Winery had just been renovated and opened last week, we were the only ones at the winery so it was very relaxed.  We didn't buy any of the wines, probably the quality was just not up to our standard.

Next stop was the Rosevear Hotel for lunch with a complimentary glass of (you guessed it) a glass of wine.  Great location right on the banks of the Tamar River.

Dragged ourselves on to the next winery - Moores Hill which is owned by an Australian/French couple, once again forced to taste 6 wines with a side of chocolate.  Looks like trouble ahead??  We didn't buy any of the wines, probably the quality was just not up to our standard.

Next was Hinton Bay Winery.  This is owned by a couple in their late 60's who retired from Cronulla two years ago and bought this winery after having drunk wine all their lives but never had any experience making wine.  They've out sourced most of their wine making process but live and work at the vineyard, averaging about 4 hours work a day.  Their children and grandchildren from Sydney visit every couple of months and their views across the Tamar Valley and River are sensational.  They are very enthusiastic!!  This was the last visit of the day and we rounded it off with 3 glasses of their best, and only, wine produced from the farm.  We didn't buy any of the wines, probably the quality was just not up to our standard.

Arrived home at almost 6pm, ready for a snack for tea and in to bed.
